Agisoft Metashape Professional 1.5.5 Build 9057 is (formerly PhotoScan) allows you to automatically create high-quality 3D object models based on digital photos. To reconstruct objects on Metashape, simply uploading photos, no additional information is needed. Restored textured 3D models can be saved in various formats – OBJ, 3DS, PLY, FBX, VRML, COLLADA, U3D, PDF.
How Metashape Works:
Typically, the goal of a Metashape user is to return a textured 3D model of an object. This goal is achieved through four stages of processing:
- Determination of the position and parameters of the camera’s external and internal orientation. At this stage, Metashape discovers common points of photos and determines all camera parameters from them: position (accurate to scale), orientation, internal geometry (focal length, distortion parameters, etc.). The result of this stage is a cloud of common points that are rarely in the 3D model space and data about the position and orientation of the camera. In Metashape, point sparse cloud is not used at a later stage of processing (except for the model building mode based on sparse point cloud), and only serves to assess the quality of photo alignment visually. However, point clouds can rarely be exported for future use in external programs. A set of data about the position and orientation of the camera is used at a later stage of processing.
- Build a dense cloud of points. Solid point cloud is built by Metashape based on the calculated camera position and photographs used. Solid point clouds can be edited and classified before exporting or moving to the next stage to create 3D models.
